WINNERS ANNOUNCED FOR THE 2010 BRIDAL BUYER AWARDS
Almost 600 people crammed into the Harrogate International Centre for Europe’s leading bridal awards ceremony on Monday evening (15 March). And, amidst the speeches, the big screens, the razzamatazz and after-show celebrations, 17 deserved winners were announced.
The awards were presented by comedian and TV personality Dominic Holland. “This year’s event was one of the biggest and best yet, with party goers celebrating into the early hours,” said Bridal Buyer magazine editor Susi Rogul.
An innovation for 2010 was the introduction of a new award for Young Designer of the year. The award, sponsored by Justin Alexander, was won by Freya Rose Rees, from Freya Rose, whose passion for creative bridal shoe designs really shone through.
The Best Wedding Dress of the year trophy, sponsored by Liza Designs, went to Sophia Tolli, for a stunning gown called ‘Heidi’. More than 25,000 visitors to the National Wedding Shows in London and at the NEC voted for this dress, ahead of the five others that were shortlisted.

In the hotly-contested Best Student Designer award, sponsored by Ian Stuart Bride, Samantha Mason from Hull College was selected as the winner – chosen from hundreds of initial entrants.
The Best Retail Bridal Website trophy (sponsored by confetti.co.uk) was awarded to Cavendish Bridal House from High Peak in Derbyshire, and Skegness-based Liza Designs won the Best Bridal Innovation award for a fantastic be-jewelled stocking. This category was sponsored by Crystallized Swarovski Elements.
Wedding TV sponsored the award for the Best Bridesmaid Collection, and this trophy was won by Kelsey Rose.
The Best Occasionwear Collection award, sponsored by The British Bridal Exhibition Harrogate (BBEH), was won by John Charles.
Halo & Co took the trophy for the Best Bridal Headdress Designers, sponsored by Hollywood Dreams. And the Best Exporter award was won by The Rainbow Club. This trophy was sponsored by Unique Forwarding.
The annual Bridal Buyer Awards are ‘The Oscars’ of the bridal industry calendar and are held during the British Bridal Exhibition, held in Harrogate every March. The exhibition attracts all the major bridal industry suppliers and manufacturers, and thousands of people involved in bridal retailing in the UK and further afield.
